What a day yesterday! So much fun, exercise, family and friends. I started the day off with a 5km run with 2 ladies from town. It was a race to raise money and awareness for POGO an organization that helps children with cancer and their families. The race raised over $15,000 which is incredible for the first year. It was the perfect day for a run too – sunny but not hot, a nice cool breeze and I got to help someone complete their first 5k run! Plus it had awesome prizes, swag, food and we got a medal!
After that it was home to freshen up and off to the course! I played in Tavistock with my fiancée and parents! What a great little course. It’s only a 60 par but the holes are challenging! Lots of water, brush and dog legs. The best part was I was killing my irons! I didn’t hit a bad iron shot all round! I was crushing my 5 iron like 160+ yards!!!!
After that it was home for a BBQ, with corn on the cob, a glass of wine and the ALS ice bucket challenge, thanks Meg! All in all a great Sunday!
One year ago I wore these shorts….a size 12! Since then I’ve lost 15lbs and who knows how many inches and I’m wearing size 8 or 10 and it feels great! I love looking back to see how far I’ve come – it’s so motivating for me. It’s all thanks to great support, healthier eating, lifting weights and running!
I’m not where I want to be but I’m heathier, happier and on the right track 🙂
With that I’m off to eat these delicious strawberries!
I love a new week! It’s like a fresh start for everything! The chance to get my eating and exercising back on track and seize a bunch more opportunities at work!
Last week was a tough one! Didn’t sleep well which led to some poor eating choices and more sitting on the couch than exercising! But I’m not going to beat myself up…life happens.
Weight loss and getting healthy is a lifelong journey! It doesn’t happen or unhappen over night but when you fall off the wagon you have to pick yourself up and jump back on!
With that I’m off to eat some eggs for breakfast and tackle my to do list (aka work) before I hit the pavement tonight! I’m feeling at least 4 miles tonight….see you on the streets 😃
I’ve told a few people I’m thinking about participating in a duathlon and the responses I’ve gotten are WHY? and WHOA! But for me the answer is WHY NOT! It’s a great new challenge and keeps me in shape!
My chiropractor ran one last month that put the bug in my ear and my dad just asked me to start biking that gave me the itch for a new race!
Thanks to Google I found one in my area on September 13th – the Lakeside Sprint Duathlon (http://www.multisportcanada.com/lakeside/sprint-duathlon/) Run 5km Bike 20km Run 2.5km. Looking at the race details it didn’t seem too bad so I thought I’d try one out last night.
I ran 2.96km biked 8.85km and ran 1.61km and it took me an hour. OMG! The second run was insanely hard….I felt like my shoes were made of cement blocks and my legs felt like bricks…but this showed me I could totally do this!
This is me afterward….smile through the pain 🙂
